Polytan provider of Rekortan’s Class 1 track in Qater

New Rekortan tracks were installed in record time to help athletes prepare for the 2019 IAAF World Athletic Championships.

QATAR SPORTS CLUB

The Qatar Sports Club’s new Rekortan tracks (main stadium track and warm up track) were installed by Polytan Agent Bilal Al Abdallah, of Waves Trading & Contracting W.L.L, an experienced firm who have completed more than 20 tracks in the region.

World Athletics CLASS 1 CERTIFICATION

The Qatar Sports Club previously had Rekortan track and has been the home of the Diamond League in Doha since 2010. The new Rekortan track is World Athletics Class 1 certified.

Following the work the Diamond League returned to the Qatar Sports Club in 2020. Despite the COVID challenges the performances were outstanding.

Three-time world champion Hellen Obiri ran her second world-leading of the year. The Kenyan won the women’s 3,000 meters in 8:22.54. Elaine Thompson-Herah continued her comeback with victory in the women’s 100 meters (10.87). Faith Kipyegon ran the fastest 800 meters of the year (so far) and Stewart McSweyn broke the Australian national record by running 3:30.51 in the men’s 1500 meters.

REKORTAN PUR SERIES

The tracks are both Rekortan PUR 15 mm systems.

This high-speed synthetic surface is designed for top performance. Thanks to the combination of an elastic base layer and a solid structure, Rekortan PUR running track surfaces provide optimum conditions for professional athletes ensuring maximum acceleration and fantastic shock absorption values.

The EPDM granules dispersed in the top layer make the sports surface ideal for running shoes with spikes and offer extremely high acceleration. Energy-enhancing tread elasticity and high abrasion resistance complete the properties of this elite surface.

The Rekortan range has systems for all facilities and needs, including Gel tracks, a new track category, which features our unique green layer based on 70% renewable polyurethane. This results in a total of 84% renewable/recyclable content.
