Rekortan tops the Diamond League leader board with return to Doha track

The most World Athletics-Certified tracks in the industry

Qatar Sports Club has been named by World Athletics (previously IAAF) as the opening venue of its 2020 Diamond League Series on 17 April in Doha.

The stadium is the traditional host of the Diamond League in Doha, however last year’s event moved to the Khalifa International Stadium as part of the 2019 IAAF World Championships preparation.

The Qatar Sports Club features a new Class 1 Rekortan track installed by Polytan. The stadium was used as a warm up venue for the World Championships and will now welcome back the world’s best in the Diamond League.

Rekortan is Sport Group’s track brand and Qatar joins the list of elite tracks provided by Sport Group. Currently 25% of World Athletics certified tracks are from Sport Group.

Chosen for top performance

In Qatar, the world’s best will run on a Rekortan PUR 15mm system.

This high-speed synthetic surface is designed for top performance. An elastic base layer combined with a solid structure provides Rekortan PUR running track surfaces with the ideal conditions for professional athletes ensuring maximum acceleration and excellent shock absorption values.

The EPDM granules dispersed in the top layer optimise the sports surface and offer extremely high acceleration. Energy-enhancing tread elasticity and high abrasion resistance gives speed to sprinters and energy return to distance runners.
