A new partnership with Scottish Athletics
Supporting Athletics in Scotland
In a move designed to bolster support for athletics in the UK, Polytan has become an official partner of Scottish Athletics. By adding the governing body for athletics in Scotland to the long-standing existing partnership with England Athletics, Polytan, with our global track brand, Rekortan, will help to promote the sport and support the development of world-class athletes.
Benefitting all levels of the sport
Scottish Athletics is made up of approximately 150 member clubs across Scotland, offering opportunities for people of all ages to try out, train, embrace and compete in athletics. It supports grassroots joggers with the aim of encouraging healthy and active communities, through to Olympic and Commonwealth Games athletes.
World Class track products and innovation
The partnership with Scottish Athletics will enable us to provide expertise and technology to deliver high quality sport surfaces for athletics events and venues across Scotland, assisting Scottish Athletics in their mission to foster and develop the sport. Polytan and Rekortan have the most World Athletics-certified tracks globally and will bring a combination of World Class track products and innovation as well as local expertise through highly qualified local installation teams.
SMART technology for smarter training
One of the innovations Polytan is bringing to the table is the latest SMART technology. The tech, which is embedded into the tracks, removes the risk of human error or external conditions impacting the data. In a sport of milliseconds, this gives coaches and athletes invaluable performance data that is 100% accurate.
As Ashley Appleby, who leads the partnership with Scottish Athletics for Polytan, explains;
“We’re thrilled to become an official partner of Scottish Athletics and to contribute to the sport’s continued legacy through innovations such as our SMART system software which allows performance data to be broken down to an unprecedented level of detail. It gives a completely new level of performance insight which supports athlete development. Through innovations like this we will use the partnership to support Scotland in achieving further success on the international stage.”
The partnership will also benefit the sport from the ground-up. All new builds or tracks requiring re-topping or resurfacing will now include a basic Polytan SMART installation.
Enhanced environmental performance
In addition, Polytan is bringing its latest Green Technology range to Scottish Athletics tracks, specifically the Rekortan AS GT. This acrylic-based porous spray system is free of fossil fuels, offering an enhanced environmental performance solution. The GT binder used in the base further enhances sustainability, reflecting Polytan’s commitment to eco-friendly practices.
